At CAP, Kid's Day isn't just a day away from school. It's a chance
for you and other kids ages 8 to 18, to learn more about water in
Arizona and get a first-hand look at the wide variety of jobs that
we do here at CAP. So expect to learn something new, and have a
darn tootin' good time while you're at it!
But
don't take our word for it. Here's what a few Kids Day volunteers
and CAP employees had to say about why they love Take Your Kids
to Work Day:
"Kids Day is an important day because
it provides exposure to a multitude of job avenues. It's valuable
for children, when they start thinking of careers, to 'think outside
the box' from what their parents, grandparents or family acquaintances
may do for a living." Glenda Steffenhagen, Financial Services
"Bringing my child to work connects
us. I like that he is able to see what I do while we are apart
and that he is able to meet the people I work with." Robin Robertson, Engineering
"Take Your Kids to Work Day is terrific
for kids because it gives them an opportunity to see that 'work'
place that mom or dad is always talking about. When kids think
about work, they might think homework - no fun! But seeing people
with good jobs, doing work that they like for a good employer
can be a powerful lesson for happiness later in life." Phil Fortnam, Communications
"I think Take Your Kids to Work Day
is important for two reasons. First, it gives children a sense
of pride to learn how their parents contribute to the growth and
economy of the state. Second, as a social function, it exposes
kids to other children and adults outside of their normal circle." Doug Crosby, Control Center
