Advice:
Before you
drive off in your newly rented vehicle it is really
important to give the car a once-over. Remember if
you can't prove damage was there when you received the
car, you could face charges for having caused it yourself!
Check: Exterior of the car for minor damage - dents
& scratches, especially doors & bumpers (fenders).
Look for tears and stains on the interior.
Ensure brakes, headlights and indicators are working properly.
Windscreen wipers, electric windows, doors and latches,
radio and heating are operating correctly.
If your contract says that you leave with a full tank
and return the same, ensure that it is full on departure.
If there is damage to the vehicle when you check it,
make sure the rental company have a description of that
damage on your contract to ensure you're not held responsible.
After leaving it may be advisable to carry-out similar
checks to that which you would if the vehicle was your
own: check tire pressure and oil levels. |
