A DAY WITH LASER558 (page 4)
19th June, 2004 - Lowestoft, Suffolk

Owner Dave Miller (seated second right). It's hard to find out what exactly the plans are for the future, but Dave seems genuine in his belief that there is a future for the ship. He hints at a possible RSL - with or without the ship, in Scotland later this year. He tells us that he is in contact with Jessie Brandon who is interested in visiting the ship as soon as time and the commitment to her sick mother permit. He says he has received tremendous support from Jessie in his campaign to restore the ship.

He confirms that the plan is to move the ship sometime this summer, destination at this time unknown, as the costs of keeping it in Lowestoft are high. However he tells us that port authorities are keen on the ship's presence due to the publicity it brings the town.

So what for the future? Who knows? Our visit took place the day before Father's Day....there was a selection of souvenirs onsale and my son bought me a Laser T-shirt.

"Laser 558 - All Europe Radio"
it says then underneath:
"Too Good to Last - Too Good To Lose"

And that seems to be Dave Miller's motto.

My special thanks go to Dave Miller and all his crew for making us so welcome....good luck to you all.
